'Heeramandi' nominated for Best OTT Original at Busan Film Festival
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has received two nominations at the 29th Busan International Film Festival. The Netflix series is reportedly nominated for Best OTT Original and Best Original Song for Sakal Ban at the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards 2024. This recognition makes Heeramandi the only Indian title to be nominated at the prestigious film festival this year.
Bhansali expressed gratitude for 'incredible recognition'
Bhansali, who made his OTT directorial debut with Heeramandi, expressed his delight over the nominations. He said, "It's an honor to be nominated for the Asia Contents Awards. I'm grateful to the jury and the audiences for this incredible recognition." The Asia Contents Awards and Global OTT Awards 2024 are scheduled to take place on October 6, at the Busan Cinema Center in South Korea.

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is a riveting tale of courtesans in pre-independence Lahore. The series features a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chaddha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal in lead roles. The ensemble cast also includes Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah, Jason Shah, Jayati Bhatia, Shekhar Suman, and Adhyayan Suman among others. Bhansali also composed the music for the series.

Heeramandi has been a massive hit on Netflix, becoming the most-watched series in its first week with 4.5M views and 33M viewership hours. It also topped the trending charts in 43 countries. Following this success, the makers are planning a second season of the show. With these nominations, Netflix has secured a total of 23 nods at the Busan Film Festival.
