'Could've been fleshed better': 'Heeramandi's Jason Shah critiques his character
Actor Jason Shah, recognized for his portrayal of Alastair Cartwright in Netflix's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, recently expressed his views on the evolution of his character during a guest appearance on the Inside The Mind With Rushabh podcast. Shah suggested that there was room for more comprehensive development of his character in the series. He attributed this to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's heavy reliance on his team, as it was Bhansali's first time creating a web series.
Shah believes more depth could have been added to character
Shah expressed that he felt there was potential for more depth in his character. "I feel my character in the film could have been fleshed out much better than it was. I felt like we could've worked on it a little bit more. A lot more color could've come out; it had the capacity," he stated. However, Shah didn't put forth his suggestions on the sets. "I said enough; I would've become a problem-maker if I said more."
Shah shares insights on Bhansali's directorial approach
Shah elaborated on the challenges faced by Bhansali, who was venturing into web series production for the first time. "I think web (series) and film are a little bit different because web is very stretched; you have a lot of episodes to make. It took him two-and-a-half years to make this." "He also wasn't directing that much; I had other directors with me." The show also starred Sonakshi Sinha and Manisha Koirala and will return for a second season.
