Has Rhea been dropped from 'Chehre'? Producer speaks up
Actress Rhea Chakraborty, who dominated news headlines last year, was looking to get back to work with the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Chehre. But her absence from the promotional campaign got people wondering if she has been dropped from the project altogether. The film's producer Anand Pandit was recently asked to clear the air on this but he chose to remain secretive about it.
'Will talk about Rhea at the right time'
In an interview, Pandit was asked about Chakraborty but he refused to say anything concrete. He said, "We did not react because we have decided not to talk about her at this moment. We will answer questions regarding her at the right time." The film's trailer is scheduled to release on March 18 and might make Chakraborty's status vis-a-vis the film, clearer.
The actress was reportedly upset with the snub
Chakraborty had announced her association with the project in 2019 with an Instagram post. Recently when she was snubbed from the poster, she reportedly got upset, her friend had claimed. "After what she went through, do you think this snub would shatter her? Not at all. She has fought many hurdles during the last year (sic)", her friend had added earlier.
Crime-thriller 'Chehre' has an enviable star cast
The film has been touted to be a crime-thriller and will hit the theaters on April 9. Apart from Bachchan, the film also stars Emraan Hashmi, Annu Kapoor, and Krystle D'Souza in pivotal roles. The film was supposed to release last year but got delayed due to the pandemic. Interestingly, the film's director Rumi Jaffery had supported Chakraborty during her "media trial."
After SSR's demise, her family leveled serious allegations on Chakraborty
Chakraborty, who was in a relationship with Sushant Singh Rajput, was accused by the late actor's family of abetting his suicide and money laundering. The case is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). She was named by the NCB along with 32 other people in a 12,000-page-long chargesheet.
