Harshvardhan on sister Sonam: Being a heroine is easier

What's the story

Harshvardhan Kapoor, whose latest outing 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero' has turned out to be an outright flop, was recently at the receiving end for his comments against sister Sonam Kapoor during an interview. The 'Mirzya' actor had said that he does not take any advice from Sonam because being a heroine is easier than being a hero in Bollywood.

What he said

Here's the slightly insensitive remark that kicked up the controversy

While speaking with a magazine, Harshvardhan said, "Sonam is in her own world. I think it's easier sometimes for a heroine to fit in a lot of films. Like a 'Padman' isn't driven by her, so she doesn't have to be there for 100 days." "For me, the whole film hinges on my shoulders. So, I don't really take advice from her," he added.

Twitter was quick to call out Harshvardhan

Social media users didn't spare Harshvardhan. "Nicely done, @HarshKapoor_. You truly deserve the enormous success of Bhavesh Joshi. Here's wishing you more Bhavesh Joshis on your "shoulders," wrote Sohini sarcastically. Another user said, "I always felt vague sympathy for Harshvardhan because he was the neglected sibling but clearly that was premature and unfounded. He's not the neglected sibling, he's the asshole no one likes."

Defense

It's taken completely out of context and misinterpreted, said Harshvardhan

Post the criticism, the 27-year-old defended himself on the microblogging website. He wrote, "If you believe everything printed in the media and start accusing people immediately ... can't help you ... I never said this ... it's taken completely out of context and misinterpreted ok I'm done defending myself gonna go hang with my sisters now bye."

Meanwhile, 'Veere Di Wedding' has triumphed 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero'

Clashing with the Veeres proved to be fatal for Harshvardhan and the makers of 'Bhavesh Joshi Superhero'. The film has been performing so poorly that the multiplex owners have canceled its shows and allotted them to 'Veere Di Wedding'.
