'Too Hot to Handle's Harry Jowsey diagnosed with skin cancer
Harry Jowsey, a popular television star known for his roles in Netflix's reality show Too Hot to Handle and the 32nd season of the dance competition series Dancing with the Stars, recently announced his skin cancer diagnosis on TikTok. Jowsey—who is only 26—revealed that a dermatologist had identified a cancerous growth on his shoulder. Despite undergoing treatment, Jowsey reassured fans about his positive health status.
Jowsey expressed hope in his video
In the video, Jowsey said, "I just wanted to make this post to let you know that summer is around the corner. Please wear sunscreen. Please go get your skin checked. If you're a freckly little frog like me, go get a mole map and get your body checked because you never know." Optimistically, he added, "Everything is going to be okay."
What does the term medically mean?
Per Mayo Clinic, "Skin cancer, the abnormal growth of skin cells, most often develops on skin exposed to the sun. But this common form of cancer can also occur on areas of your skin not ordinarily exposed to sunlight." "You can reduce your risk of skin cancer by limiting or avoiding exposure to UV radiation. Early detection of skin cancer gives you the greatest chance for successful treatment."
Jowsey emphasized increased sunscreen use
Jowsey used his diagnosis to advocate for increased sunscreen use and regular professional skin examinations. He admitted that the cancerous growth had been on his shoulder for one to two years before he sought medical advice. Beyond his television roles, Jowsey also hosts a Spotify show called Dating Harry Jowsey, where he discusses dating, relationships, and various other topics on a weekly basis.
