Hardik Pandya makes misogynist comments on 'Koffee with Karan'
Cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, representing the Indian cricket team, recently appeared on the talk show Koffee with Karan, which is hosted by famous Bollywood director and personality Karan Johar. While a section of the internet is displeased at the cricketers choosing Virat Kohli over Sachin Tendulkar as the better batsman, Pandya's atrocious misogynistic comments also got called out. Here's what went down.
Obnoxious attitude and misogyny shown by Pandya in interview
When asked about personal lives, Pandya spoke about how his parents and family were 'cool' and open about discussing the cricketer's sex life. He spoke of an incident when they attended a party, and his parents asked him which girls he had had a 'scene' with. Pandya pointed out to the women saying 'This one. This one. This one'.
Pandya's crudeness doesn't become a player in the gentleman's game
Pandya's crudeness did not end there as he continued speaking about the day he lost his virginity. Evidently, the cricketer had gone and told his parents, 'Aaj mai kar ke aaya' which translates to 'I did it today'. It is shocking indeed to see such behavior from a top Indian cricketer. Perhaps Pandya thought he was being cool, but he was actually being crude.
Understandably, several women were outraged at Pandya's tasteless comments
Most women took to Twitter to express displeasure at Pandya's comments. They said how classless it was, and how his mother should have taught him some humility. They also pointed out the supposed cool behavior was creepy. While some initially had fun seeing the two cricketers let their guards down, it soon became unbearable for them, and they criticized Pandya's objectification of women.
'There's a fine line between cool and creepy'
Angry at Pandya's comments, women react
Pandya, don't treat women like 'Man of the Match' trophies
Cricket fans were also outraged at the player's comments. Some pointed out how they needed to detox by watching Rahul Dravid's interviews, while others urged the BCCI to teach him a lesson. Fans urged Pandya not to treat women like 'Man of the Match' trophies. A Twitterati observed that Pandya's position in the national team was uncertain, and this was a bad PR move.
