Hansal Mehta blames 'Avengers: Infinity War' for poor 'Omerta' opening
What's the story
Hansal Mehta's latest venture 'Omerta' opened to disastrous numbers on Friday. The Rajkummar Rao starrer could only rake in Rs. 54 lakh on day one, thus, becoming one of the lowest openers of 2018.
Reacting to the same, Mehta said that 'Omerta' was given poor show timings due to 'Avengers: Infinity War', which affected his film's collection adversely.

Here is the director's response
"Thanks to the ongoing success of 'Avengers: Infinity War' we were given very poor show timings. There was not a show that suited the conventional audience. Plus there is the 'adult' censor certification. That automatically puts off a major chunk of the audience," said Mehta.

The trajectory of Mehta's career
So far, none of Mehta's directorial ventures have managed to earn big at the box office, despite receiving high critical acclaim.
His last outing, Kangana Ranaut starrer 'Simran', was an outright flop and now 'Omerta' is also headed towards a similar fate.
Mehta's best work includes 'Shahid' and 'Aligarh'.
