Katrina reveals how she coped up after splitting from Ranbir
When Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif met on the sets of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani (2009), cupid struck, and soon a relationship ensued. However, after six long years, they broke up, and remained completely tight-lipped about it. Last December, Katrina finally spoke up, terming the breakup as a blessing. And recently, she shared how she coped up after the split to emerge stronger.
'Had to take full responsibility for my part in equation'
Katrina, who's now promoting Bharat, co-starring Salman Khan, said that she "had to break before I could proceed to rebuild myself," after the split. "I had to unravel and feel everything that had happened...I had to take full responsibility for my part in the equation, what I could and should have done better and accept that the parts I wasn't responsible for," she added.
Her mom's words helped her during her lowest
"One thought that helped me when I was at my lowest, something my mom told me was, 'So many women and girls go through the same thing, you feel you are alone but you are not.' The thought was very comforting," the 35-year-old said.
Katrina remains optimistic even after battling an ugly breakup
A breakup can make a person go all against love and relationships, but Katrina remains optimistic. "I've always been emotional. I'm a Cancerian and a sensitive soul. I'm not going to lose that or change that for anyone," she said, while adding that being in a relationship is beautiful, but a person should not lose his/her identity, because "nobody else gives you your identity."
'As a woman, you must protect and maintain your identity'
"What I have learned is that as a woman, you must protect and maintain your identity. Your sense of self-worth comes from within, not from another person. You come into this world alone, and leave alone. That's something you shouldn't lose sight of," Katrina emphasized.
Katrina also speaks about the fragility of today's marriages
The Zero actress also pointed out how 50% of marriages these days end up in divorces, and "that's not a good track record," but that will not deter her from hoping for the best. One thing Katrina has been lauded by all is how maturely she dealt with the whole fiasco after the breakup.
Despite everything, Katrina didn't speak ill about Ranbir, Alia publicly
She didn't go around throwing mud at Ranbir on any talk-show, like a couple of actresses we know of. Neither did she avoid him publicly, nor did she talk ill about Ranbir's new girlfriend, Alia Bhatt. To this she says, "I have a separate equation with Ranbir and Alia which I maintain regardless of anything else. They have their own place in my life."
'As individuals I've great warmth and regard for both'
"As individuals I've great warmth and regard for both. When I meet them, I behave the way I feel for them," said Katrina, who won hearts when she greeted Ranbir and Alia warmly during Filmfare Awards. She also spoke about Deepika Padukone, Ranbir's ex-girlfriend, saying, "If you can let go of the past, let it go. I have, because I want friends around me."
After 'Bharat,' Katrina gearing up for 'Sooryavanshi,' co-starring Akshay Kumar
On the work front, apart from Bharat, Katrina is also gearing up for Rohit Shetty directorial Sooryavanshi, co-starring Akshay Kumar, an Eid 2020 release. Bharat also stars Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, Tabu and Sunil Grover in lead roles. Talks are also on about Katrina doing a PT Usha biopic, but the actress didn't confirm on that yet, since the project is still under discussion.
