
Oscars: Guneet Monga's 'Anuja' loses to 'I'm Not a Robot'
What's the story
India's Oscars 2025 journey has come to an end as Guneet Monga Kapoor's Anuja lost to I'm Not a Robot in the Live Action Short Film category.
A win would have marked Monga Kapoor's third Oscar, following her victories for The Elephant Whisperers and Period. End of Sentence.
Other nominees included A Lien, The Last Ranger, and The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent.

Directed by philosopher-turned-filmmaker Adam J Graves, Anuja stars Sajda Pathan, Ananya Shanbhag, and Nagesh Bhonsle.
Available to stream on Netflix, Priyanka Chopra Jonas also joined the project as an executive producer.
Meanwhile, the Dutch-language sci-fi short I'm Not a Robot, written and directed by Victoria Warmerdam, tells the story of Lara, who finds herself in a bizarre new reality after repeatedly failing CAPTCHA tests.

Plot
'Anuja': A tale of sisterhood and choices
