Iconic rock band Green Day gets comedy film
What's the story
Live Nation Productions is working on a comedy film based on iconic rock band Green Day, titled New Years Rev, reported Variety.
The film, which is being produced in collaboration with the band members, narrates a coming-of-age tale about three friends who head to Los Angeles under the false impression that their band will be opening for Green Day on New Year's Eve.

The official synopsis of New Years Rev calls it "a rowdy and mischievous jaunt across the country filled with adventures, based on the exploits of Green Day and their years of living in a tour van."
The Hollywood film stars Mason Thames, Kylr Coffman, and Ryan Foust in lead roles. The film also features The Office's Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, alongside Ignacio Diaz-Silverio and Keen Ruffalo.

Lee Kirk wrote and directed this film is currently in production in Oklahoma.
Tim Perell (Process), Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, Tre Cool, and Stella Bulochnikov (Pat Solitano Productions) are producing New Year's Rev.
Ryan Kroft and Michael Rapino of Live Nation Productions, along with Jonathan Daniel, are executive producers.

'New Year Rev' to capture Green Day's long van life
Armstrong reflected on the movie and recalled Green Day's early days on the road.
He said, "Van days rule. You will drive all night on no sleep then play a show for 10 kids in the basement of a friend's house 80km east of anywhere you've ever heard of."
"But you'll do it again the next day, and the one after that. Because you're doing it with your bandmates who become your family and it's unlike anything you've ever known."
