Kej, Shankar, Vekaria, Tandon nominated for Best New Age Album
Three-time Grammy-winner Kej has been nominated in the Best New Age, Ambient, or Chant Album category for his album Break of Dawn. He is eyeing a fourth win this time. The category also features nominations for Shankar's Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn, Vekaria's Warriors of Light, and Tandon's Triveni. The latter was made in collaboration with flutist Wouter Kellerman and cellist Eru Matsumoto.
Shankar and Venugopal vie for Best Global Music Performance
Shankar has bagged a second nomination for her work with British multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier on the song A Rock Somewhere. The track is nominated for Best Global Music Performance and features Bengaluru-based vocalist, flutist, and composer Venugopal. This is Venugopal's first-ever Grammy nomination. To note, Shankar has earned nine Grammy Award nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live and present at the ceremony.
Kej expressed gratitude for his Grammy nomination
Kej, who won his first Grammy in 2015 for Winds of Samsara (with Kellerman) and his second in 2022 for Divine Tides (with The Police's Stewart Copeland), expressed happiness over his latest nomination. He said, "I am honored to have Break Of Dawn recognized by The Recording Academy." "This album is deeply personal, reflecting my belief in music as a transformative force for the health and well-being of the planet and our people."
