The year 2019 started on a sad note for Bollywood lovers as veteran actor Kader Khan breathed his last on Tuesday. He was 81. Khan died after a prolonged illness. Khan battled progressive supranuclear palsy
For the uninitiated, Khan was suffering from progressive supranuclear palsy. This condition leads to dementia, causes trouble in walking and leads to deterioration of overall health. His elder son Sarfaraz also revealed that the veteran actor underwent knee surgery last year, post which he stopped walking. Khan moved to Canada over a year ago where he was looked after by his son.
Govinda calls Khan a father figure
Giving a tribute to the legendary actor, Govinda wrote that Khan was a father figure who taught him several things. He sang praises for his Dulhe Raja co-star and said that Khan had an impressive aura. "His midas touch made every actor he worked with a superstar," Govinda wrote as he shared a memorable picture with Khan from one of their movies.

For 90s kids, Khan was the king of comedy whose dose of humor in every role was brilliant. He shared incredible chemistry with Govinda and the two made for one of the most adored pairs of Bollywood. Govinda and Khan gave several hit movies like Dulhe Raja, Coolie No.1, Hero No.1, Joru Ka Ghulam, Haseena Maan Jayegi and Aankhen.
Bollywood mourns Khan's death, pays tribute
Apart from Govinda, several other Bollywood celebrities paid their condolences to Khan. Raveena Tandon, who had shared the screen space with Khan in several movies, said that she was amazed by the veteran actor's comic timing. Amitabh Bachchan also paid tribute, calling Khan a brilliant stage artist and writer of eminence. "Man with best comeback lines departs," he added.
Khan was left alone with his family: Shakti Kapoor
Shakti Kapoor, who was heartbroken after Khan's death, expressed his grief and said that the legendary actor was lonely for a decade. "When Kader wasn't working for a decade and was suffering, nobody was very concerned about him. Kader was financially very secure but very lonely. He was left alone with his family," Shakti said highlighting the dark side of the glamor world.
A strong Bollywood comeback was Khan's last wish
Shakti also revealed that Khan wished to make a strong Bollywood comeback. However, he wasn't concerned about the box office numbers. Instead, he wanted to teach zubaan and perfect dialog delivery to the new generation of actors. "Today, when actors speak, you can't understand half of it. So, I want to teach this generation of actors the language," Khan once told Shakti Kapoor.
