'Govinda Naam Mera' team mulling options to avoid 'Prithviraj' clash?
The makers of Prithviraj on Thursday announced the historical drama will hit theaters on June 10. This meant the film was poised for a direct clash with Vicky Kaushal's Govinda Naam Mera. However, Govinda Naam Mera's team is reportedly mulling a release date change to avoid a clash with Prithviraj. Also, the production houses behind these films have held meetings regarding the same, too.
Why does this story matter?
Govinda Naam Mera is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, while Prithviraj is produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. Both the producers are relatives and on good terms, so a box office clash is unlikely. While a clash would have been fascinating, collections of both films stood a risk of getting impacted. So, changing Govinda Naam Mera's release date is a good idea.
Dharma, YRF 'jointly decided' on the new release date: Report
"Rescheduling Govinda Naam Mera was a decision taken after a discussion with YRF. Dharma and YRF have a good working relationship and the latter was keen on this date (June 10), so it was jointly decided that the release would be rescheduled," a source told Bollywood Hungama. However, Dharma Productions will decide on the new date after completing The Fame Game's promotions, they added.
