Five new 'Game of Thrones' theories post the Long Night
The Great War ended in a not-so-great manner. With the prime antagonist dead in mere minutes, there is no certainty as to what direction the show will take now. While a lot of unnamed characters met their end, a surprising number of named characters is still alive. So, what happens now? Here are some popular theories that are making rounds on the Internet.
For Cersei, ignorance turned out to be blissful
Queen Cersei broke the promise she made to Tyrion, and did not send her armies to fight against the White Walkers. It was a gamble that paid off. With the destroyed undead army and dwindling Northern numbers, Cersei definitely has the upper hand. She has her own forces, the golden company's reinforcements, and Euron Greyjoy's support. The real game begins now!
Arya has to shut a few more eyes
Melisandre told Arya, "I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes sealed shut forever. We will meet again." She has fulfilled a part of this prophecy by destroying the Night King (blue eyes) and people like Walder Frey (brown eyes). What was the color of Cersei Lannister's eyes? Oh!
Cleganebowl is the name of the game
The Hound has had a tumultuous journey in the show. He went from a ruthless killing machine to someone who could overcome his biggest fear (fire) to save the one he cares about (Arya). His biggest wish, however, is yet to be fulfilled. He still has to kill his brother, The Mountain (now a Zombie), whom he despises the most.
Cersei might not be the main villain after all
Ever since the show started, White Walkers were teased as the external threat that would lead to the unification of humans. With only three episodes remaining, the White Walkers are already gone, leaving Cersei as the prime antagonist. Maybe the show has spoiled us as viewers but there is a possibility that there's a darker, more evil villain lurking in the shadows.
Did the magic of Night King perish with his destruction?
When Night King marked Bran, he was able to find him and destroy the previous three-eyed raven. He was impervious to fire, could summon a snowstorm, and could turn anyone into a White Walker. We all saw how he grabbed Arya moments before she destroyed him. If his magic still exists, it is possible that Arya has been secretly turned into a White Walker!
