Hacker group threatens to leak GoT season finale
Following the hacking of multiple HBO Twitter accounts this week, the hackers have reportedly threatened to leak the finale of Game of Thrones season 7 ahead of its air date. The hacker group, which goes by the name "Mr. Smith group", has also threatened to release the passwords of several HBO social media accounts. The group has had a history with HBO.
The Mr. Smith group's threat message
Reportedly, the Mr. Smith group released a message saying "Be ready for GoT S07 E6 & E7 as soon as possible".
The Mr. Smith group stole 1.5 terabytes worth of data
The Mr. Smith group was responsible for the original hacking of HBO in which they stole 1.5 terabytes worth of data. Among the data stolen was the Game of Thrones script and details of HBO employees. According to recent reports, the group has even more information including login credentials for the official HBO, Game of Thrones, and Westworld Twitter accounts.
Meanwhile, GoT S8 is set to begin filming
Amidst all these threats, season 8 of Game of Thrones is supposed to set to resume shooting in October. Reportedly, the eighth season will consist of only six episodes. However, it is rumored that these episodes will be supersized - a rumor which HBO has yet to confirm officially. Despite the midweek leak of episode 6, HBO will air episode 6 on Sunday.
