'GOAT' stumbles; Vijay's film earns ₹177.75cr by Day 8
GOAT, starring Thalapathy Vijay, has had a mixed journey at the box office since its release. The action film, directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment, was supposed to break all records but has witnessed a decline in its earnings over the past few days. On Thursday, it collected just over ₹6 crore nett, according to early estimates from Sacnilk.
'GOAT' box office collection: Day-wise breakdown
GOAT earned ₹44 crore on its opening day, followed by ₹25.5 crore on the second day, ₹33.5 crore on the third day, and ₹34 crore on the fourth day. The film's earnings dropped to ₹14.75 crore on the fifth day, ₹11 crore on the sixth day, and further down to ₹8.5 crore on the seventh day.
'GOAT' box office collection kept decreasing
On the eighth day, GOAT collected ₹6.5 crore nett across all languages, as per early estimates. The film's total earnings in India now stand at ₹177.75 crore. The overall Tamil occupancy (the primary language for the Vijay starrer) for the movie on Thursday was 24.15%.
'GOAT': A departure from Vijay's recent films
In GOAT, Vijay plays a double role, portraying both a father and his son. The film's story, which includes elements of family sentiment, action, humor, and drama, is a departure from the actor's recent outings. The movie also pays tribute to several notable figures and films, including Captain Vijayanath, SPB, Ajith's Mankatha hook step, Prabhu's late cousin Bhavatharini, and numerous Vijay films.

Apart from Vijay, GOAT features a star-studded cast including Prashanth, Sneha, Prabhu Deva, Vaibhav, Ajmal Ameer, Mohan, Ajay Raj, Aravind Akash, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Yogi Babu, Sneha, Yugendran, Premgi Amaren, and VTV Ganesh. In the film's trailer, Vijay is introduced as a field agent and spy who has successfully completed over 65 operations in his career.
