Vijay's 'GOAT' achieves major production milestone; finishes VFX work
On Saturday, director Venkat Prabhu recently announced the completion of a significant production milestone for his highly anticipated upcoming film, The Greatest Of All Time. He shared a behind-the-scenes photo on X (Twitter), showcasing actor "Thalapathy" Vijay's transformation through specialized VFX technology. The tweet read, "Successfully completed the VFX work with @actorvijay na at @lolavfx. Can't wait for the output!!!"
Vijay's dual role transformation revealed
The shared photo provides a glimpse into Vijay's older look in the film. Notably, in The Greatest Of All Time, Vijay portrays an older character with grey hair and a beard, as well as a younger version of the same character. The transformation is achieved through specialized VFX technology, highlighting the actor's versatility in this highly anticipated film. Earlier, he played more than one character in movies like Bigil and Mersal.

Lola VFX behind the special effects of the movie
The VFX work for The Greatest Of All Time is being handled by Lola VFX, a leading special effects studio based in Los Angeles. Known for its pioneering work in de-ageing effects, Lola VFX has contributed to several high-profile projects including The Irishman and numerous Marvel superhero films. The studio is also involved in another anticipated project, director Shankar's Indian 2, where it is tasked with de-aging Kamal Haasan.
Earlier, Prabhu dismissed rumors about film being a remake
The Greatest Of All Time marks the first collaboration between Prabhu and Vijay, generating significant buzz among fans. Earlier speculations suggested that the film was a remake of Hollywood's Gemini Man, due to first-look posters revealing Vijay's dual role. However, Prabhu dismissed these rumors, stating that The Greatest Of All Time is his original work. The film is set to hit cinemas on September 5, 2024.

AGS Entertainment is backing this project, which also stars Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, and Prashanth. GOAT also features Prabhu's frequent collaborators like his brother Premgi, Vaibhav, Aravind Aakash, and Ajay Raaj. Siddhartha Nuni and Venkat Raajen will handle the cinematography and editing, respectively. Meanwhile, following this project, Thalapathy 69 is speculated to be Vijay's final film as an actor before transitioning into a full-time politician with his political party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK).
