Vijay's 'GOAT' struggles; earns ₹246cr in 20 days
Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil film, GOAT (Greatest Of All Time), has experienced a slowdown in its box office performance during its third week. Despite crossing the ₹200cr mark swiftly and being one of the fastest Tamil films to reach ₹100cr within three days of release, the movie is now struggling to maintain momentum. Released on September 5, 2024, it appears unlikely that GOAT will surpass the ₹300cr mark soon.
'GOAT' earned ₹1.15cr on Day 20
On its 20th day (third Tuesday), GOAT earned ₹1.15cr, bringing its net collection to ₹245.65cr, as reported by Sacnilk. The film's overall Tamil occupancy stood at 16.41% on the same day, with Hindi occupancy at 7.2%. Despite these figures, the worldwide gross collection of GOAT is estimated to be between ₹445.6-446.1cr, reflecting its global appeal and success beyond domestic borders.
'GOAT' is one of the most expensive Tamil films
Produced on a budget of ₹400cr, GOAT is among the most costly Tamil films to date. Vijay, the lead actor, received a staggering ₹200cr for his role in this film. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the movie tells the story of a spy agent named Gandhi who works at the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad (SATS). The cast also includes Meenakshi Chaudhary, Prashanth Thyagarajan, Sneha Prasanna, and Mohan in significant roles.
'GOAT' to premiere on Netflix in October
Following its theatrical run, GOAT is set to debut on the popular OTT platform Netflix. The film will be available for streaming from October 3, 2024, providing a new avenue for audiences to enjoy this Tamil blockbuster. This move is expected to further boost the film's reach and popularity among global viewers.
