Vijay's 'GOAT' is unstoppable; approaches ₹200 crore mark
Thalapathy Vijay's latest film, The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), has successfully completed its first week at the box office and is now entering its second weekend. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film raked in ₹6.50 crore on its second Friday alone, pushing the nine-day total to a staggering ₹184.50 crore, according to trade website Sacnilk. The movie is projected to cross the ₹200 crore mark by the end of this weekend.
'GOAT' aims to surpass Vijay's previous record
Despite a noticeable drop in collections during the weekdays, the second weekend is expected to compensate for this dip. If GOAT surpasses ₹200 crore, it will be on track to exceed the lifetime earnings of Vijay's highest-grossing film, Leo, which reportedly netted ₹341.04 crore in India. The film's performance over the coming days will determine if it can achieve this milestone. Notably, it's Vijay's penultimate project before he ventures into politics full-time.
'GOAT' becomes 5th highest-grossing Tamil film
GOAT has made a significant impact in Tamil Nadu, reportedly becoming the fifth highest-grossing Tamil film in the state. The movie amassed ₹184.50 crore in just nine days, with over ₹156 crore coming from the Tamil Nadu market alone. This impressive figure surpasses the lifetime earnings of Baahubali 2 in the state, which were around ₹152 crore. The film also stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal Ameer, and Yogi Babu, among others.
