'GOAT' recorded high occupancy in Chennai and Bengaluru
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Tamil version of GOAT saw an overall 76.23% occupancy. In Chennai, the film had 1,003 shows and witnessed a phenomenal 99% occupancy. 'GOAT' is Vijay's penultimate film before his political debut
GOAT is said to be Vijay's second-last film as the star has previously hinted at a transition into politics after completing his next project, Thalapathy 69. The excitement for this penultimate film could potentially translate into significant box office numbers. In 2023, Vijay had two releases - Leo and Varisu. While Leo was one of the biggest grossers of the year, Varisu did not fare as well, making ₹26.5cr on its opening day.
'GOAT' is directed by Venkat Prabhu
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, GOAT also stars Prashanth, Sneha, Mohan, and Prabhu Deva. The film earned around ₹43cr (Tamil: ₹38.3cr; Hindi: ₹1.7cr; Telugu: ₹3cr) net in India on its first day for all languages as per early estimates. Its reign is likely to last for the coming weeks.
'GOAT' is a period science fiction film
GOAT is tipped to be a period science fiction film. The ensemble cast includes Ajmal Ameer, Vaibhav, Laila, Mohan, Aravind Akash, Ajay Raj, Meenakshi Chaudhary (Miss Grand International 2018), Yogi Babu, and Premgi Amaren among others. The trailer introduced Vijay as a field agent and spy who has carried out over 65 successful operations in his career. It also gave a glimpse of Vijay's double role as he played both father and son characters.
