    What's the story

Gillian Anderson couldn't believe the fact that she has received a Golden Globe nomination for her role on The Crown.

"I'm quite teary. It was a long journey," said the veteran performer.

The X-Files and Hannibal alumna made eyes roll with her striking impersonation of late former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of Netflix's take on British royal family.

    Details

Anderson was in the middle of photoshoot when call happened

The actress was in the middle of a photoshoot when a call with Variety informed her about a stupendous fact: Golden Globes has nominated three female directors, a first in its 78-year-old history!

Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), Regina King (One Night in Miami) and Chloe Zhao (Nomadland) were those who helped break that jinx.

"Three?!?! What!...that's extraordinary," Anderson had replied, in excitement.

    Happy

It feels very moving to have been recognized, says actress

When she was asked about her show, The Crown, which got six nods, the highest for a TV series, Anderson said the nominations belong to every person involved in the show.

"I put my heart and my soul into the role, so it feels very moving to have been recognized and to have been recognized alongside so many wonderful actresses," the 52-year-old said.

Colman and on-screen Margaret Thatcher, Anderson, are buddies off-cam

Apart from Anderson, Josh O'Connor, Emma Corrin, Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman are the other Crown actors to get nominated.

Though their characters had a tensed relationship, off-camera, Anderson shares a funny equation with Colman, the on-screen Queen Elizabeth II.

On the latter's birthday, Anderson posted three comical images featuring herself and Colman.

"Happy birthday Queenie," she had wished the Oscar winner.

    Development

Anderson embarrassed about her dance video that has emerged online

On a related note, recently a video emerged that has left Anderson pretty embarrassed.

It shows Colman leading others in a dance routine on Lizzo's song Good As Hell, while Anderson lags behind in following the steps in rhythm.

Shot for fun, Anderson said, "It was never meant to see the light of day."

The video was shot much before pandemic, informed the actress.
