Television actor and model Gehana Vasisth is battling for her life after suffering a cardiac arrest while filming for a web-series. Reportedly, the 31-year-old actor is "extremely critical" and has been placed on life-support. Vasisth, known for her appearance in ALT Balaji's Gandii Baat, suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon after a long work shift without consuming proper nourishment. Here are more details.
Vasisth fell unconscious while shooting at Madh Island
According to IANS, Vasisth was filming for a web-series at Madh Island when she fell unconscious. The actor was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors said that she suffered a cardiac arrest resulting from a severe stroke and very low blood pressure. She is currently undergoing treatment at the Raksha Hospital in Mumbai's Malad area.
What caused Vasisth's cardiac arrest?
Notably, Raksha Hospital Managing Director Dr. Pranav Kabra said that Vasisth was filming for almost 48 hours without proper nourishment. Vasisth, who's diabetic, had high blood sugar and low blood pressure. The hospital has been told that she consumed energy drinks after taking medication for diabetes and another illness. Dr. Kabra said they're awaiting test results to see if there was a possible reaction.
Vasisth not responding to treatment, says doctor
Further, Dr. Kabra said that Vasisth is currently in the Intensive Care Unit and has been put on a ventilator. He said she was brought in with no pulse, adding that it took two hours to revive her pulse after electric shock treatments. "She is not responding to treatment and has difficulty breathing on her own," he said, describing her condition as "extremely critical."
