Bollywood legend Vinod Khanna's wife, Geetanjali, passes away at 70
Geetanjali Khanna, the first wife of late Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna, and mother of actor Akshaye and Rahul Khanna, passed away on Sunday at the age of 70. Reportedly, Geetanjali had been suffering from a cardiac ailment and breathed her last at the Khannas' farmhouse in Maharashtra's Alibaug. However, the exact cause of her death hasn't been ascertained as of now. Here's more.
Geetanjali passed away peacefully while resting
Reportedly, Geetanjali, and her sons Akshaye and Rahul, were visiting their farmhouse in Alibaug when tragedy struck. On Saturday evening, Geetanjali complained about feeling uneasy, following which she was taken to a hospital nearby. After treatment she returned to the farmhouse, and was resting. Later in the day, Akshaye found her unconscious, and rushed her to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Geetanjali died of natural causes
"It appeared to be a natural death, but doctors have preserved the viscera to ascertain the exact cause of demise. We recorded Rahul Khanna's statement and have not found anything suspicious," assistant police inspector Meghna Burande told HT.
Geetanjali and Vinod Khanna had been married for 14 years
After the postmortem was done at the civil hospital on Sunday morning, Geetanjali's body was handed over to the Khanna family. The 70-year-old's funeral took place later in the day. Geetanjali and Vinod Khanna had met in college and had married in 1971, before getting divorced in 1985. The legendary actor, also a BJP MP, passed away last year due to bladder cancer.
