After FIR registered, Gauahar Khan's team claims she tested negative
Gauahar Khan's team has come to her defense after the actress was booked by the Mumbai Police for allegedly flouting COVID-19 rules. In a statement, the team stressed that the actress is a "law-abiding citizen" and had tested negative in "multiple reports." They also requested people to not speculate and respect Khan's emotionally lowest time, since she lost her father not long ago.
Khan's team claimed she is cooperating with BMC
In the statement, her team thanked people for sending their best wishes and concern. Giving an update on the incident, her team said, "She's tested negative in multiple reports. Gauahar Khan is cooperating with everything that the BMC requires. (sic)" Further, with "folded hands," the team also urged everyone to respect Khan's privacy and "let her heart heal in this mourning time."
Her close contacts asked to move to institutional quarantine
To recall, on Monday, it was reported that the Oshiwara Police had booked the actress on the complaint of BMC, as she was not quarantining herself even after contracting the virus. Reportedly, when some BMC officials went to her home on Sunday night, they learned she wasn't present there. Her high-risk contacts have been asked to move to institutional quarantine, reports TOI.
She had given an undertaking that she wouldn't step out
According to the Assistant Municipal Commissioner of K-west ward, Vishwas Mote, BMC officials had visited her house in Andheri (W) on March 11. At the time, she gave an undertaking that she would not step out. "However, despite this, we received a complaint that she was moving around putting her and others' lives in danger," Mote went on.

Khan's case comes at a time when Maharashtra is witnessing a spike in COVID-19 cases. Lockdowns and restrictions have returned in various districts. The state continued to report a high daily positivity rate in coronavirus infections yesterday. The total tally stands at 23,29,464 and deaths at 52,909. With over 25,000 fresh cases yesterday, India's coronavirus numbers reached 1,14,09,831. So far, 1,58,856 have died.
