Salman's house firing: Accused allege death threats from Dawood gang
The family members of the two accused in the firing outside actor Salman Khan's residence have written to the Maharashtra and Bihar governments, alleging a conspiracy by underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim's henchmen to kill them. The two accused, Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, were arrested from Gujarat for their involvement in the incident that took place on April 14. They are currently lodged in Taloja jail, Mumbai.
Letters sent by the accused's family members cite conspiracy
The letters were sent by the brother of accused Vicky, Sonu Gupta, and Rahul Pal—brother of accused Sagar. Per reports, both the accused hail from Majharia in the West Champaran district of Bihar. The letters claim that the duo was informed about a plot to kill them by Ibrahim's henchmen during a meeting in jail. The family members have sought protection for them.
Accused's lawyer alleged threat from D Company
Vicky's lawyer told ANI, "Vicky and Sagar have given an application to the authorities for protection of their lives. They say that they are being threatened by D Company." He further added, "The victim (Khan) has known relations with a gangster, perhaps he wants to get the accused killed, this is the allegation of the accused (Vicky and Sagar). We've written to the Central government, Maharashtra and Bihar governments for their protection."
Accused fear meeting same fate as co-accused Anuj Thapan
The letters sent by the accused's family members also express fear that Vicky and Sagar might end up the same way as the co-accused Anuj Thapan. Thapan, who was arrested on April 26 from Punjab, was found dead on May 1 in the washroom of the crime branch's police lock-up. The police claimed that Thapan died by suicide, but his mother alleged foul play.
Accused arrested in connection with firing outside Khan's house
To recall, Vicky and Sagar were arrested in April after they allegedly opened fire outside Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra area. The Mumbai Police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against all the accused in connection with the incident. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility for the act and has been declared a wanted accused in the case.
