Don't keep calm: GoT is releasing in early 2019
'Game of Thrones', the fantasy series that caught the world by storm, will return next year (before summers) for its final season. Casey Bloys, the president of programming for HBO, confirmed this at a Television Critics Association event. However, fans need not be saddened that the show is ending. He has also confirmed that a spin-off prequel is in the works.
Game of Thrones much like Game of numbers
GoT isn't just a show anymore, it's a phenomenon. Each episode approximately has a production cost of $10 million, making it one of the most expensive shows. However, the risks are justified by the rewards, as the show draws around 10 million legal viewers and millions of illegal viewers. Without doubt, HBO needs to look in a new direction now that GoT is ending.
What to expect when winter finally arrives
The last season of what has become the most widely viewed show on earth, promises to be outstanding, and nothing like we have seen before. The makers will give it all - including deaths, dragons, white-walker invasions and mega battles. However, with the season ending we can only hope that the spin-off comes soon to fill the giant hole in our hearts.
Spin-offs aired on HBO will keep the fandom alive
HBO realized long back that GoT would end eventually and they'd have to look to other pastures for revenue. Faced with a similar situation when 'The Sopranos' ended, this time HBO came well prepared. Reportedly, five spin-offs were in the pipeline, but the pilot has been approved of only one. Jane Goldman and George RR Martin will be working on this one.
What can we expect from the spin-off?
The spin-off is titled 'The Long Night' and is going to be set before the current events in Westeros. The plot will explore the 'Age of Heroes', during the first white-walker invasion, when the wall was built.
