'Game of Thrones' fans can now own Jon Snow's sword!
Fans of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones can now own a piece of the show's history. Over 2,000 items from the series, including costumes, props, and set pieces, are set to go under the hammer in an auction next month. The items, which range from iconic pieces such as Jon Snow's Longclaw sword to smaller props like prosthetic White Walker teeth, will be available for bidding through Heritage Auctions.
Auction to feature over 2,000 items across 900 lots
The auction—scheduled for October—will feature more than 2,000 items from GoT, distributed across 900 lots. The starting bids for these items range from $500 to $20,000. Among the notable pieces up for grabs are Longclaw sword, Daenerys Targaryen's coats and cloaks, and Jaime Lannister's full suit of armor and sword. Other items include the Hand of the Queen Pin worn by Tyrion Lannister and a melted version of the Iron Throne.
'Auction a chance to grab a piece of history...'
Jay Roewe—HBO's senior vice president—said the auction is a chance for ardent fans to "grab a piece of history." He emphasized that the items have been carefully preserved since the series ended in 2019. The studio has been holding onto these pieces for potential use in spinoffs or sequels. However, with the recent completion of House of The Dragon's Season 2 and other projects in development, Roewe said the studio now knows what they can part with.
Preliminary bidding now open; auction in October
The auction catalog—which spans 750 pages—includes interviews with costume designer Michele Clapton, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and several cast members discussing the usage and significance of hundreds of items. The collection is now open for preliminary bidding, with the main auction set to take place from October 10-12 in Dallas. Fans will also have the opportunity to preview the collection at the auction house's New York and London locations from September 17 through October 4.
