GoT creators to helm new Star Wars film series
Probably the biggest crossover between two extremely popular series is happening. Disney has roped in 'Game of Thrones' creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to helm a new Star Wars series film. The production house did not reveal release details, but the new spinoff series will be different from the ongoing 'Skywalker Saga' that includes 'The Force Awakens' and 'The Last Jedi'.
What the production house has to say?
"Their (Benioff and Weiss) command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting," said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm.
From seven kingdoms to a galaxy far away
"We are honoured by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete," the creator duo said in a statement.
What does this mean for Star Wars?
Some of the fans of the series were concerned after the announcement. Does having Benioff and Weiss on board mean the family friendly 'Star Wars' will have more adult themes? Other fans asked why the production house did not bring directors like Patty Jenkins, Jordan Peele and Ryan Coogler.
