Fan sues Nicki Minaj for $5M over slander, 'stalker' allegations

    What's the story

A "superfan" of rapper Nicki Minaj has filed a lawsuit against her, alleging that she bullied him and falsely labeled him as a mentally ill "stalker."

The plaintiff, Tameer Peak, reportedly filed the lawsuit in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

According to TMZ, Peak has been a dedicated follower of Minaj for the past 15 years and claims to have supported her career by promoting her 2023 album Pink Friday 2.

    Details

Minaj accused of ruining fan's reputation

The lawsuit states that Minaj accused Peak of being a "stalker" for impersonating her crew members.

Peak is now seeking $5M in damages for "reputational harm, emotional distress, and financial loss."

According to the lawsuit, Minaj damaged his reputation and publicly humiliated him.

The suit also alleges that Minaj invited Peak to her hotel and mocked him on Instagram Live as hundreds of thousands of viewers watched.

    Alleged assault

    Minaj's husband allegedly assaulted Peak

The lawsuit further alleges that Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, assaulted Peak in 2020 during a Super Bowl weekend event.

Minaj reportedly texted Peak about the incident afterward.

Notably, Petty has previously been convicted of attempted rape in the first degree in April 1995 and later pleaded guilty to manslaughter for killing a man in 2002.

He was also sentenced to 120 days of house arrest for threatening Cardi B's ex Offset in 2023.

    Threats

Peak claims to have received threatening messages

Peak alleges that he received threatening messages from others, possibly at Minaj's behest, telling him to "stop saying sh*t."

This further damaged his standing among the rapper's fans.

He also claims that he was targeted not only on Instagram but also during Minaj's Stationhead sessions on X, formerly Twitter.

Peak interpreted one of Minaj's comments as a dig at him when she wrote, "It's clear they're not necessarily, you know, a full basket umm at the picnic."

    Minaj's response

'He will regret having gone down this disreputable road...'

Minaj's attorney, Judd Burstein, told TMZ, "Mr. Peak has been harassing Nicki on social media for years on end to no avail. He has now graduated to seeking to shake her down financially with manifestly false allegations and legally frivolous claims."

"He will regret having gone down this disreputable road when he is forced to pay her legal fees as required by California law."
