'Frozen 3' to hit theaters in 2027; first look out!
Disney has announced that the highly-anticipated Frozen 3 will be released in 2027. The announcement was made by Disney's Chief Creative Officer Jennifer Lee. The third installment of the popular franchise is expected to address unresolved questions from the previous films. A first look at the movie was also revealed, featuring visual development art by Britney Lee, showcasing Elsa on a white horse and Anna on a brown stag.
'Frozen' franchise: A global phenomenon
The Frozen series, penned and co-directed by Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck, is set in the fictional kingdom of Arendelle. The original Frozen film, released in 2013, was inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's classic fairy tale The Snow Queen. It quickly became a blockbuster hit, grossing $1.28B worldwide and ranking fifth in the highest-grossing movies of all time upon its release. It reportedly currently stands at No. 22.
'Frozen II' surpassed original in box office earnings
The sequel, Frozen II, was released in 2019 and outperformed the original by earning $1.45B at the global box office. It currently holds the position of the 14th highest-grossing movie worldwide after peaking at No.10. The sequel expanded on the magical world of Arendelle with new locations and creatures. Apart from the films, the Frozen franchise has spawned TV specials, short films, a Broadway musical, an ice-skating show, and much more.
