First look poster of 'L2: Empuraan' reveals Mohanlal as mafia
The first look poster of the eagerly awaited movie, L2: Empuraan, was unveiled on Tuesday, coinciding with the 64th birthday of lead actor Mohanlal. The poster presents Mohanlal in an all-black ensemble, radiating the aura of a mafia boss. This is a stark contrast to his portrayal in the prequel Lucifer (2019), where he was depicted in white attire. The film is helmed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who made his directorial debut with Lucifer.
Why does this story matter?
For those unaware, Empuraan serves as the second installment in a planned trilogy, succeeding the 2019 blockbuster Lucifer. In this sequel, Mohanlal returns to his role as Khureshi-Ab'raam aka Stephen Nedumpally. The film was a big success, shattering numerous box office records in Mollywood. It surpassed the ₹50cr mark within four days, followed by the ₹100cr milestone in eight days, and finally reached ₹150cr in just 21 days. Currently, it stands as the sixth highest-grossing Malayalam film.
'Empuraan' poster hints at an explosive sequel
The poster depicts Mohanlal walking toward the camera, flanked by armed bodyguards wielding machine guns. The color palette of the poster is predominantly black and gray, indicating the explosive nature of the upcoming movie. The poster indicates Sukumaran has significantly broadened the scale and scope of this sequel. Earlier in the day, the director shared a photo with Mohanlal from the sets of Empuraan, extending birthday wishes to him.
