'Captain Marvel' footage reveals surprising link to 'Avengers: Infinity War'
Captain Marvel is scheduled to release on March 8 and fans cannot wait to see how the Marvel Cinematic Universe introduces its first standalone female superhero. However, there have been questions about how Carol Danvers or Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, will be introduced after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. New footage seems to suggest a link between the films. Read on.
'Captain Marvel' movie set way before the Avengers were formed
As we had reported, Captain Marvel is going to be set in the 90s. This puts it way before the Avengers initiative was started by SHIELD. Therefore, fans naturally had a question about how Captain Marvel would help the Avengers back on to their feet after the events of Infinity War, and help them to take down Thanos in the upcoming movie, Avengers: Endgame.
'Infinity War' post credit teased how Captain Marvel would return
The post credit scene for Infinity War showed SHIELD director Nick Fury fall prey to Thanos' finger snap that decimated half of the universe's population. However, before turning into ash, Fury managed to send a message via a pager. It was then shown that the pager had the symbol of Captain Marvel, teasing that the hero would arrive in the upcoming movie.
Footage shows link between the two movies via a pager
The footage, which surfaced in a Russian trailer to Captain Marvel, shows an important link between the two movies. We see Danvers and Fury discuss a pager and perhaps how effective it is for communication in the 90s. While our Russian is a little rusty, it appears that Danvers realizes the importance of the pager and asks Fury to give her one.
Can be assumed that Fury, Danvers kept communicating through pager
Now that Danvers has a pager, one might assume she and Fury kept up communication through the old school medium. Notably, Danvers asking for the pager indicates her willingness to be of assistance to the spy. It is highly likely that once she receives the distress signal from Fury, she will come to his assistance, thus bringing her to the events of Endgame.
