Sanoj Mishra denies claims of exploiting Mahakumbh viral girl, Monalisa
What's the story
Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra has come out in the open to defend himself against accusations of taking advantage of internet sensation Monalisa, who gained widespread attention during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh.
Producer Jitendra Narayan Singh had accused Mishra of using Monalisa for his benefit.
Responding to the allegations, Mishra asked the public not to believe these rumors and said his intentions were only to support and guide the young star.
Supportive stance
'I am supporting her like I would support my child'
Mishra stressed that Monalisa, who is barely 16, had to leave the Kumbh Mela due to unwanted attention and harassment, leading to monetary loss.
Despite her fame, no one else came forward to help her in this difficult time.
"She is just 15 and a half years old and my daughter is around 18," he said in a video message.
"I am supporting her (Monalisa) like I would support my child."
National solidarity
Mishra's actions were guided by conscience and received support
Mishra said he was acting according to his conscience and had the blessings of many well-wishers. He also said the whole nation was standing with him, showing their support.
"I am getting blessings from many people...the entire country is supporting me."
"I have done everything in my power to help her (Monalisa) and she is currently undergoing professional training for her new opportunity," he added.
Past troubles
Mishra questioned accuser's credentials and hinted at past troubles
Mishra also took a dig at his accuser, without naming him, questioning his credentials and accusing him of spreading false claims.
He said, "Have you ever made a film if I haven't? What have you done so far? Tell me, what have you achieved other than spreading lies?"
