Film Federation urges SIFCC to release Rajnikanth's 'Kaala' in Karnataka
Film Federation of India has urged the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) to uplift the ban on the release of superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming movie "Kaala" in Karnataka. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) is upset with the superstar's reported statement that whichever government comes to power in Karnataka should implement the Supreme Court order on Cauvery water sharing. Here's more.
Cinema should not be mixed with politics: SIFCC Secretary
SIFCC secretary L Suresh said they had sent a letter to KFCC to solve the problem by convening a meeting with the Kannada outfits. Suresh said it is unfortunate that cinema is being mixed with politics. "The ban on 'Kaala' will not only affect the Tamil film industry but also the Kannada film fraternity and the Indian film industry as a whole," he said.
Rajini fans in Karnataka also wrote to KFCC
Karnataka Rajinikanth Fans' Association, too, has written to KFCC, seeking Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy's intervention. "Rajinikanth had made remarks on the formation of Cauvery water board, beneficial to both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu," President of the association, Rajani Santosh said. On June 2, minister of state for finance and shipping Pon Radhakrishnan had asked DMK President, Stalin, to request help from Congress in Karnataka.
Rajnikanth often faced criticism by pro-Kannadigans
The 67-year-old actor has often faced the wrath of pro-Kannada organizations for his comments on the Cauvery issue, which also led to KFCC not allowing the screening of his movie Kaala, slated for release on June 7, in Karnataka.
