Rajkumar Hirani prefers facts over fiction
One of the most successful directors of the Hindi film industry, Rajkumar Hirani, believes that facts have an edge over fiction. Present at the special screening of a documentary titled 'Raising The Bar', he said that such films require a proper platform to thrive. The event was hosted by filmmaker Onir and producer Mitu Bhowmick Lange in association with Australian Consulate General Mumbai.
Here's his take on the documentaries
"I think documentaries are really engaging as they are real, and fiction can't beat facts. People make fictional stories to entertain the audience but a documentary filmmaker makes a documentary which is closer to his or her heart," he said.
On whether he will make a documentary
Impressed by 'Raising The Bar', Hirani said that he would also like to make a documentary some day. "I am really fond of it. I want to make it and I will definitely make it. I have many subjects to tell and when the time will be right, I will speak more about it," he said.
Hirani's gearing up for the release of Dutt biopic
The '3 Idiots' director is currently immersed in the post-production work of the Sanjay Dutt's biopic. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role along with Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Diya Mirza, Manisha Koirala and Paresh Rawal, the film is expected to be a game-changer. Hirani's last film as director was Aamir Khan's 'PK', which released in 2014.
