Old characters will meet new to solve Crimes of Grindelwald
The Fantastic Beasts family has gotten bigger and fiercer in trying to undo the Crimes of Grindelwald. With this film, Jude Law and Johnny Depp join the Fantastic Beasts universe as the young professor Albus Dumbledore and the villainous Gellert Grindelwald. Ezra Miller's Credence, lead man magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), and Dan Fogler, the lovable muggle, reprise their roles from the first installment.
Fans unhappy with Johnny Depp playing Grindelwald
One of the most fabled events of Rowling's wizarding world, the clash between old-friends-turned-enemies Dumbledore and Grindelwald, is expected to feature in this installment. However, fans are displeased with Johnny Depp being cast as Grindelwald. Depp was accused of domestic abuse by his now ex-wife Amber Heard, who later dropped the allegations. From Nikolaj Coster-Waldau to Colin Farrell, Twitter is filled with replacement suggestions.
Fantastic Beasts was released in 2001 to benefit a charity
JK Rowling wrote Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as a spin-off to her insanely-successful Harry Potter series. The slim volume was released in 2001 to benefit charity Comic Relief. Rowling notably marked her screenwriting debut with the book's film adaptation last year.
