'Fanney Khan' clears Supreme Court roadblock, will release this Friday
'Fanney Khan' release had recently been jeopardized due to a civil suit between the producers. Vashu Bhagnani, the aggrieved producer, had moved the Supreme Court to stay the release of the film until the dispute had been settled. The court, however, has rejected his plea, ensuring the movie would be released as scheduled i.e. this Friday. Here's what actually happened.
What was Bhagnani's complaint exactly?
Bhagnani was allegedly approached by KriArj in November 2017 to discuss the sale of the distribution rights. The deal was struck for Rs. 10 crore, of which Rs. 8.5 crore was paid to KriArj for the rights. This guaranteed that Bhagnani had sole distribution rights. But later, KriArj apparently colluded with Super Cassettes to sell the entire co-production and distribution rights to the latter.
What do we look forward to this Friday?
With the legal complexities cleared up, the movie is slated to release this Friday. Apart from Anil Kapoor, the Atul Manjrekar directorial also stars Rajkummar Rao and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is also one of the producers of the film. The story revolves around a father who puts everything at stake to fulfil his daughter's musical dream.
