Fake heiress Anna joins 'Dancing With the Stars'—flaunts wild anklet
Anna Sorokin, a convicted con artist known for her elaborate scams as the fake German heiress "Anna Delvey," is set to participate in the popular reality show Dancing with the Stars. Her participation was announced on Good Morning America on Wednesday with a promo picture that got the fans intrigued. The upcoming 33rd season of the show will premiere on September 17 on ABC and Disney+.
Sorokin's house arrest and ankle monitor add intrigue
Adding a unique twist to her participation is the ankle monitor that Sorokin has been wearing since October 2022, when she began her house arrest. Despite this, the show seems to be embracing it, as evidenced by a promotional image featuring Sorokin in a sparkling dress with an ankle monitor. She was released from prison in February 2021 but was detained by immigration authorities shortly after for overstaying her visa.
Sorokin's house arrest conditions and new ventures
Sorokin's spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed that she is allowed to travel within 113km of her residence and anywhere in the five boroughs of New York City under her current house arrest conditions. However, he did not comment on any changes to these rules for filming in Los Angeles. Despite restrictions on using social media, Sorokin has kept busy by starting a podcast called The Anna Delvey Show.
Other celebrities joining Sorokin on 'Dancing with the Stars'
Sorokin will be competing against a star-studded lineup including former NBA star Dwight Howard, actor Tori Spelling, and Jenn Tran from The Bachelorette. The show will also feature Team USA's Olympic breakout star Stephen Nedoroscik, known as "Pommel Horse Guy," and US Olympian Ilona Maher. Ezra Sosa, a former member of the show's dance troupe, has been promoted to a "pro" this season and is partnered with Sorokin.
