#NewsBytesExclusive: Priyadarshini Indalkar 'didn't expect' her 'Farzi' role
Marathi actor Priyadarshini Indalkar is best known for roles in Phulrani and Maharashtrachi Hasya Jatra. But did you know she was also seen in Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi starrer Farzi, which was released on Amazon Prime Video earlier this year? Gearing up for Shantit Kranti 2 next, Indalkar tells NewsBytes how she didn't expect her Farzi role would make it through the edits.
Indalkar expected her role to be chopped off in 'Farzi'
Farzi was Indalkar's OTT debut, though it was a small role. "My part in the series was so small, that I assumed it would be edited. I didn't hear from the makers for a very long time. I didn't expect to see myself in the series. But even though it was a small part, it received appreciation, and gave me recognition," she told us.
She plays this central character in 'Shantit Kranti 2'
In Farzi she might have had a limited role to play but in SonyLIV's Shantit Kranti 2, she will be seen in a full-fledged role as Shreyas's (Abhay Mahajan) fiancée Samruddhi. Talking about it, she said, "It's an arranged marriage set-up where Shreyas' mother has chosen Samruddhi," adding that why Samruddhi chooses to marry Shreyas, despite his antics, forms the show's subplot.
'Shantit Kranti 2' is a relatable watch'
Speaking further about the show, Indalkar said that the upcoming show isn't only relatable but also humorous. "The relatability quotient of each character is very high. At the same time, its humor isn't for a particular pool of people but is meant for people from all walks of life. I'm sure that the audience, especially the youth will enjoy watching the series."
On whether casting is based on social media following nowadays
When asked if she thinks casting is based on a person's social media following nowadays, Indalkar says, "I've heard from people that instead of casting a good actor, they cast a better influencer (in films/shows)." Adding that "Reels are not the new platform for actors," she said that online popularity might fetch an opportunity but "you can thrive only because of talent."
More on her work front
Apart from Shantit Kranti 2, Indalkar has two more projects up her sleeve, but none in Hindi. "At the moment, I have no Hindi titles that I'm working on. However, I have two Marathi movies - one, for which I completed the shooting in September, and the second whose work will begin in October," Indalkar said before signing off.
