Jason Sudeikis's 'Ted Lasso': Season 4 gets major development
Fans of the popular sports comedy series Ted Lasso have a reason to rejoice. Warner Bros. Television has confirmed that original cast members, including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, have been approached to return for the much-anticipated fourth season. The Emmy-winning show, created by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, and Joe Kelly, first premiered on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020.
Warner Bros. Television secures options on original cast
According to a Deadline report, Warner Bros. Television has secured options on Waddingham, Goldstein, and Swift, who were part of the UK's acting union. They have been invited to reprise their roles as Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins, respectively. The studio is also expected to approach other Ted Lasso cast members with SAG-AFTRA contracts whose options had expired.
Season 4 production could begin as early as 2025
While there is no official confirmation yet, it is speculated that the production of Ted Lasso Season 4 could commence as early as 2025, provided everything proceeds according to plan. This, however, is contingent on the budget approval and scheduling with actors who are not bound by Warner Bros. Television. Meanwhile, preparations for the writers' room are already in progress.
Future of 'Ted Lasso' depends on Sudeikis
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, series co-creator Lawrence stated that the future of Ted Lasso Season 4 depends entirely on Sudeikis. He said, "Even without talking to each other, every actor, actress, writer, and producer on that show loved the experience...As fans, we'd all kill if it was going again, but everybody would say the same thing."
Season 3 finale hinted at potential spinoff
The third season of Ted Lasso concluded with the protagonist returning to Kansas to reunite with his wife and son. However, glimpses into the future suggested various potential storylines for AFC Richmond and its characters. The Season 3 finale also hinted at a possible spinoff featuring Keeley and Rebecca collaborating on a new project, AFC Richmond Women's Team.
