Ajay Devgn's 'Runway 34': Everything to know before teaser drops
Bollywood star Ajay Devgn is coming back as a director for the third time with Runway 34. The thriller flick inspired by true events will see Devgn play a pilot's role, sharing the screen with Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh. Ahead of the film's April 29 release date, makers will be dropping its teaser on Tuesday. Here's every update you need to know.
New poster was released on Monday
While announcing Runway 34's teaser will arrive on Tuesday, Devgn also shared a brand new poster of the film on Monday (March 14). In the cinematic poster, we can see Devgn, Bachchan, Singh, and Boman Irani (who plays a pivotal character) in its quadrants. Of course, an image of an airplane makes it to the poster, given the film is related to aviation.

This is the plot of 'Runway 34'
So, what can we expect from the film? While the exact plot is unclear, the narrative is based on a 2015 incident when a Doha-Kochi flight had a mid-air scare due to poor visibility. In all the posters, Devgn and Singh have appeared in pilot outfits, so they will be seen flying the flight in question. Details regarding Big B and Irani's are scarce.
'Runway 34' production suffered several blows
Devgn began shooting the film, originally titled MayDay, in December 2020 but its production was not smooth. In accordance with the plot, Runway 34 was to be shot at various airports, but the COVID-19 pandemic played foul. In April 2021, Devgn, who also serves as a co-producer, had to stall shooting before wrapping up the last schedule. Thankfully, things are back on track now.
Amazon Prime Video has bagged post-theatrical rights
Interestingly, Runway 34 will clash with Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2 at the box office. After debuting on Eid (April 29), the film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video, as per reports. Depending on how well it performs in theaters, the post-theatrical release can come within two-four weeks after release. Separately, Runway 34 marks the acting debut of YouTuber Ajey Nagar, popularly known as CarryMinati.
