Eva Longoria pledges $1M; Metallica donates $50K to LA wildfires

Hollywood star Eva Longoria's Eva Longoria Foundation, along with the Courage and Civility Award, has pledged $1 million to help with the ongoing California wildfire relief efforts.
The announcement was made by former Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Julian Castro on social media.
The money will be directed toward both Castro's Latino Community Foundation's Wildfire Relief Fund and the California Community Foundation's Wildfire Recovery Fund.

Longoria's donation will support frontline organizations
The Latino Community Foundation and the California Community Foundation (CCF) are working with grassroots organizations that are rooted in the affected communities.
The CCF partners with community-based organizations and government agencies. It will prioritize underserved communities, helping rebuild critical infrastructure such as emergency communication systems.
It also offers financial disaster assistance, labor law education, and immigration services to low-wage workers and immigrant families.

Along with Longoria's foundation, the famous music band Metallica's All Within My Hands foundation is also stepping up.
It has granted $5,00,000 to Los Angeles fire relief efforts which will be carried out by the CCF's Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation's Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.

Current wildfires in Los Angeles County: A quick look
Currently, three wildfires are ravaging Los Angeles County—the Palisades, Eaton, and Hurst fires—which started nearly a week ago.
The death toll stands at 24, with over 38,000 acres burned and more than 3,100 structures destroyed.
Most of the destruction has occurred in the Palisades and in Altadena where the Eaton fire originated.

Longoria to co-host NBC's 'Jenna & Friends'
Longoria is set to discuss the donation further on Tuesday when she co-hosts NBC's Jenna & Friends.
She then plans to return to LA to volunteer with Global Empowerment Mission and visit World Central Kitchen's Eaton Fire operations.
Her active involvement in both funding and volunteering further underscores her commitment to the wildfire relief efforts.
