Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke to receive special Lucca award
Acclaimed filmmaker and actor Ethan Hawke is set to receive the prestigious Golden Panther Award at this year's Lucca Film Festival in Italy. The festival will also feature a screening of his latest directorial venture, Wildcat, where he directs his daughter Maya. Hawke will present a public masterclass at the festival and will also present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Paul Schrader.
Hawke's filmography to be showcased at the festival
The Lucca Film Festival will showcase an extensive retrospective of Hawke's filmography, including notable films like Dead Poets Society, Gattaca, Boyhood, and the Before trilogy (Sunrise, Sunset, and Midnight). The festival organizers highlighted Hawke's early start in the industry at 14 with the film Explorers (1985), his acting education in England and the US, and his establishment of the first theater company in New York City at 21.
Hawke's contributions to cinema recognized
The Golden Panther Award is a recognition of Hawke's significant contributions to the film industry as an actor, director, and writer. He is a four-time Academy Award nominee: for Best Supporting Actor for Training Day (2002) and Boyhood (2015), and for Best Adapted Screenplay for Before Sunset (2005) and Before Midnight (2014). The award underscores his versatility and enduring impact on cinema.
