Snake venom case: ED books Elvish Yadav for money laundering
There seems to be no relief in sight for Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav, who has now been booked by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), per reports. The probe is part of an ongoing case concerning Yadav's alleged involvement in the sale and purchase of snake venom. The ED's zonal office in Lucknow is spearheading the investigation under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and Yadav is expected to be summoned for questioning soon.
Snake venom allegedly supplied to high-profile parties
Per reports, preliminary findings by the ED suggest that the snake venom allegedly involved in Yadav's case found its way to high-profile parties at well-known hotels, clubs, resorts, and farmhouses in Delhi-NCR. The ED officials plan to question all parties involved in this case. Additionally, Yadav's alleged possession of several high-end vehicles is also under scrutiny by the ED. Yadav is yet to react on this development.
Past: Yadav arrested and released on bail amid legal proceedings
This comes shortly after Yadav was arrested on March 17 by Noida Police and subsequently placed under 14-day judicial custody. However, he was released on bail after five days. The legal proceedings against him were initiated following a complaint from Gaurav Gupta, a representative of BJP MP Maneka Gandhi's organization, People for Animals. Charges were filed against Yadav and five others at the Sector 49 police station in Noida under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act.
Findings of the chargesheet filed by Noida Police
In early April, Noida Police filed a 1200-page chargesheet against the popular yet controversial YouTuber and eight others in connection with the alleged snake venom-rave party case. The chargesheet reportedly included evidence of smuggling exotic snakes and hosting rave events, with an additional 24 witnesses recorded. The chargesheet also revealed that Yadav had been interacting with snake charmers.
Yadav has maintained his innocence throughout
After getting bail, Yadav stated in his popular vlog, "The one week that went by, no doubt, was a very bad phase of life." " Let's start a new chapter on a positive note. All those who supported me...didn't support me...talked badly or well about me, thanks to all." He further expressed his faith in the judicial system, affirming that he trusts that whatever unfolds will be just. "Neither do I do nor speak anything wrong," he emphasized.
