Ellen DeGeneres, wife Portia move to England—blame Donald Trump
Famed talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and her actor-wife Portia de Rossi have reportedly moved to England from the United States. The move comes after Donald Trump recently won the US Presidential election, leaving the couple "very disillusioned," according to TMZ. The outlet quoted sources with "direct knowledge" of their move, stating they have moved into a new home in Cotswolds, about two hours from London.
DeGeneres and de Rossi's move may be permanent
The couple had bought their new home in Cotswolds before the US elections but chose to move after Trump's win. Their decision was reportedly immediate, fueled by a wish "to get the hell out." Signs point to this move being permanent as they are now putting their house in Montecito, California up for sale. This comes after they reportedly sold another mansion in the US for $96 million.
DeGeneres and de Rossi were vocal supporters of Kamala Harris
Notably, DeGeneres and de Rossi were vocal supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump's main opponent in the 2024 US Presidential election. In August, DeGeneres voiced her support for Harris on Instagram, saying, "There's nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can't wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president." She had also donated $3,300 to Harris's campaign.
