Confirmed! 'Kahiin Toh Hoga's Aamna Sharif is the new Komolika
Recently TV czarina Ekta Kapoor asked on Twitter about who would be the next Komolika for Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, and now it seems she has found one. As per recent media reports, Aamna Sharif, still remembered as Kashish (Kahiin Toh Hoga) has been roped in to play the iconic character. To recall, Ekta's frequent collaborator Hina Khan was earlier seen in that role.
Ekta asks about new Komo, says how she misses Hina
The original Komolika, Hina Khan quit the show this year
It was this February when Hina quit the popular show owing to other commitments. Since then, viewers had been eagerly waiting for the new Komo (as Ekta fondly calls that character). And now it seems the search has ended in Aamna, who is gearing up to give a tough time to the leads, Prerna and Anurag, played by Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan, respectively.
Aamna is making a comeback on TV after 6 years
Aamna, meanwhile, is making a comeback on the small screen after six years. Talking of the same and confirming the Komolika news, she said, "The reason for the break was the need to reinvent my personal life. It would have been easy to stay in my comfort zone and come back with a love story, but that wouldn't have satiated me as an actor."
"Instinctively knew that this will challenge me the most"
The actress, who was last seen in TV show Ek Thhi Naayika (2013), also a Ekta product, highlights that it gives her a rush "to surprise your audience." "So, when I was offered the role of Komolika, I instinctively knew that this is what will challenge me the most as an actor," said Aamna. To note, this is her career's first negative role.
There are no black or white characters anymore, feels Aamna
When asked about how it feels to play a villain, Aamna said, "There are no black or white characters anymore. They are all grey in their own ways and with so many platforms to explore, the stories have become more about ensembles than about leads."
Is Aamna oblivious to comparisons with Hina Khan's Komolika?
Elaborating on that, Aamna said, "A Devdas for me is as much about Chandramukhi as it's about Paro, and a Padmaavat is as much about Khilji as it's about Padmavati herself." About the obvious comparisons with Hina, the Aloo Chaat actress said that she "didn't get a chance to see the way Hina portrayed it," but has "heard she was doing a commendable job."
Aamna was last seen in 'Ek Villain' opposite Riteish Deshmukh
Aamna, who got married to producer Amit Kapoor in 2013 took a long break from work after the birth of her son, Aarin, in 2015. Apart from TV shows, the 37-year-old ventured into films, making her debut in the 2009 heart-warming film Aloo Chaat opposite Aftab Shivdasani. She then did Aao Wish Karein (2009), Shakal Pe Mat Jaa (2011), and finally Ek Villain (2014).
