Eid 2025: Salman's 'Sikandar' to clash with these regional biggies
What's the story
The upcoming Eid 2025 weekend is going to be a box office battle with multiple high-profile films scheduled to release.
Among them are Salman Khan's Sikandar, Pawan Kalyan's Hari Hara Veera Mallu, the second installment of the Malayalam hit Lucifer titled L2: Empuraan, and Vijay Deverakonda's tentatively titled VD12.
Despite no major Bollywood competition for Sikandar, these regional releases are a big challenge.
Malayalam contender
'L2: Empuraan' aims for pan-India success
L2: Empuraan, the sequel to the blockbuster Malayalam film Lucifer, is one of the big releases clashing with Sikandar.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and featuring Mohanlal, the movie is aiming for a pan-India release.
It is expected to perform well beyond its regional limits and if it clicks with Hindi-speaking audiences, it might just affect Sikandar's box office performance.
Other competitors
'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' and 'VD12' join the fray
Another big release that will be competing with Sikandar is Kalyan's Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which also stars Bobby Deol.
Although it is mainly aimed at Telugu markets, it will also see a limited release in Hindi-speaking territories.
The period action-drama is likely to rule the box office in southern India but won't have much impact on Sikandar's run.
Meanwhile, Deverakonda's VD12 is also in the race this packed Eid weekend.
Box office predictions
'Sikandar' still leads the race despite stiff competition
Despite the packed release, none of these movies are likely to topple Khan's much-awaited Sikandar at the box office.
Going by the current trends, Sikandar has the upper hand against its rivals. However, the unpredictable nature of audience tastes and the increasing craze of South Indian cinema could spoil these early predictions.
The Eid 2025 weekend will be a treat for moviegoers across India.
