'13 Reasons Why's Dylan Minnette on why he stopped acting
Dylan Minnette, renowned for his role in the hit series 13 Reasons Why, recently revealed why he decided to temporarily step away from acting to concentrate on his music career with his band, Wallows. While appearing on the Zach Sang Show, Minnette discussed this decision and its implications for his future in acting. He expressed that while he enjoyed acting, it had started to feel more like a routine job.
'I was in a very fortunate position...'
"I was in a very fortunate position [acting-wise], it was always fun for me, always really inspiring, but then it was just starting to feel like just a job," Minnette shared. He added that together with his band he aimed to take their music as far as possible. "I feel like I'm in a position now where I can just kind of do that for a while and get this the farthest it can be."
Possible return to acting for Minnette
Minnette hinted at a potential return to acting in the future, stating, "I do feel like I have something to give, and that's probably acting ... I feel like I'm starting to feel inspiration for that again." He suggested that once Wallows fulfills its commitments and takes a break as a band, he might find the perfect inspiration to return to acting. This comes after his roles in 2022's Scream and the Hulu mini-series The Dropout.
