Dwayne Johnson has not ruled out running for America's presidency
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has come a long way from being a WWE star to making his name in Hollywood movies like Baywatch. Having earned global fame and repute, the actor had set sights on an even higher post, that of the US President. While Johnson is not running for the presidency in 2020, he has not ruled it out. Here's what he said.
2020 out of question, but future looks bright for Johnson
Johnson had already admitted in an interview last year to The Rolling Stones that he had ruled out running for the US presidency in 2020. However, he could consider running for the post in the future, according to his interview with Indiewire, at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Notably, Johnson was there for promoting the film he produced, Fighting With My Family.
'Not ruling it out' says Johnson in interview
Johnson said in the interview about his possible participation in the Presidential race, "I'm not ruling it out, I'm not ruling out the idea if I could make a bigger impact somehow, or potentially surround myself with good people".
Not ready now, but have plenty of connections, says Johnson
Johnson admitted to lacking experience for an immediate run for office. However, he continued, "I have a lot of friends who are politicians, many former presidents, senators, former senators. You name it, on every level". Thus, Johnson said that he might run if he believed he could make a decent president, or "not suck" at being a president since he immensely respects the position.
For now Hollywood is keeping Johnson busy
Until Johnson formally makes a run for President's office, Hollywood projects are keeping the star busy. He recently finished filming the Fast & Furious spin-off, Hobbs and Shaw. He will soon begin filming for the Jumanji sequel, which releases later this year.
