The first trailer for the much-awaited prequel series to the Dune movies, Dune: Prophecy, has been unveiled. This show offers a female-led perspective on life 10,000 years before the events depicted in the original Dune novels. The narrative will trace the origins of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, led by the Harkonnen siblings portrayed by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams. It is inspired by Sisterhood of Dune, penned by Kevin J Anderson and Brian Herbert, original author Frank Herbert's elder son.

Dune: Prophecy comes on the heels of Denis Villeneuve's successful Dune franchise, which has seen two widely profitable installments till now. Villeneuve expressed his fascination with the Bene Gesserit, stating, "Focusing a series around that powerful order of women seemed not only relevant and inspiring but a dynamic setting for the television series." The development of Dune: Prophecy began in 2019 and underwent several transformations before reaching its current form.
'Dune: Prophecy' cast, directors, and producers revealed
The cast of Dune: Prophecy includes Mark Strong, Jodhi May, Jessica Barden, Travis Fimmel, and Edward Davis alongside Watson and Williams. Anna Foerster is among the key directors for the series with her portfolio featuring episodes of Outlander and Underworld: Blood Wars. The first season will consist of six episodes. The producers include showrunner Alison Schapker, co-creators Diane Ademu-John and Foerster, Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, John Cameron, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts, along with author Brian Herbert.

The makers of Dune: Prophecy have revealed that the show is set to premiere on Max later this year, although an official release date has not been announced yet. Fans are eagerly decoding the teaser trailer, particularly looking for a glimpse of Tabu's character, Sister Francesca, who has been described as "strong, intelligent, and alluring." Her character synopsis says, "Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital."
